How to Respond to the 2008 Presidential Election

Half the nation may be feeling very discouraged and the other half ecstatic. Here's how Christians can respond:

1. Congratulate African-Americans on this historic election of the first African-American President of the United States! Millions of their forebears have suffered incalculable and sinful wrongs at the hands of the white majority population for centuries--during and after slavery. May this election bring a much deeper healing to those ancient wounds. Rejoice with those who rejoice! I do!

2. For those who voted for the other side, let me share with you what I think God told me the day after the election--after I got over my own grief at the results: " He has only been elected. He has not changed one law yet. There is still time for God's people to pray that he will do only good for American and not do any harm." Most presidents have done some of both--despite what we thought they would do in office.

I say that the future of America is not in any President's hands. It is in God's hands and a holy, repentant, unified Church can move the hand of God according to His will. God wants us to move His hand to bless, heal, protect and provide for America, but he had limited Himself, as the Scriptures teach, to do some things only if His people pray well and live well before Him. "If my people...then I will heal their land. ( II Chron 7:13-14). Please read verse 13. It says that when God judges a nation with calamities ( 911, Katrina, floods, Economic meltdown), He can be petitioned to relent and restore by a holy, repentant, praying people. So, pray for our new President and His family. Pray every blessing and protection on them you can. His success is our success as a nation. Our destinies are intertwined (Jer 29:7). It is our calling from 1 Peter 2.9 and I Tim 2:1-2. A good list of prayers is found here.

Also, pray specifically that he does not do three things: 1) Cause more unborn children to die by abortion as he has promised he would by eradicating laws to protect the unborn. Greater shedding of innocent blood will only increase the judgement of God on America and really ruin our economy. 2) Accommodate the empire ambitions of Muslims who have already all but taken over Europe. His Muslim roots may make him too sympathetic to America's greatest political and religious enemy now. 3) That he would not implement any of the racist teachings he absorbed for 20 years from his pastor.

"The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD;
He turns it wherever He wishes (Pro 21:1).

Partners 318: Three Critical Reasons Not to Elect Barak Hussein Obama as President of the United States

It is easy to understand why, in the words of that famous Christmas song, “the hopes and fears of all the years are met in…” Senator Obama for many people, especially for African-Americans. Here is a handsome, well-educated, intelligent and very well-spoken African-American who could be our next President. I, too, look forward to the day when a Black man or a Black woman sits in the Oval Office as President. I wish Colin Powell or Condi Rice would run for President. When American elects a person of color as President, a deeper racial healing could happen in America among all races. If the candidates were about the same on values and policies, I would vote for the person of color. But I believe that Senator Barak Hussein Obama is not the one who should be that first African-American President of the United States. I have problems with both candidates, but the differences I have with Senator McCain pale in comparison with the ones I have with Senator Obama.

First, a disclaimer: this email is not motivated by any racial prejudice. I totally agree with what Dr. Martin Luther King stated that no man should be judged on the basis of the color of his skin. Many of you know that I have spent years working publicly for racial reconciliation with pastors. I joyfully joined an all-Black church in the 90’s for two years and I loved it. One chapter of my book, Healing America’s DNA is all about the sins and moral crimes of the white community against Black slaves and Black people even into the 20^th century in Hampton Roads. Few people know that I had a Black grandfather. I knew my paternal grandmother’s second husband, Charlie, as a kind and godly fully African-American man. For these reasons and more, I agonized over writing this message for weeks because I know that some of my friends will not agree with what I say and some might be very offended. I regret that, but I must share what I feel to be truths that could literally mean life or death for many future Americans.

The main reason I cannot vote for Senator Obama is his clear, consistent and totally unbiblical positions on the value of unborn children. Abortion is the one area where Senator Obama has clearly shown what he stands for as a leader. “Barrack Obama is the most extreme pro-abortion candidate ever to seek the office of President of the United States. He is the most extreme pro-abortion member of the United States Senate. Indeed, he is the most extreme pro-abortion legislator ever to serve in either house of the United States Congress.” [1] See this link for details in an article written by Robert P. “What would President Obama do? Obama says, “The first thing I’d do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act” (FOCA). His top agenda would be to strike down every pro-life law that has been instated by state legislatures and the Congress, including parental consent laws, partial birth abortion, health standards for abortion clinics and the Born Alive Infant Act, which provided for life-saving medical procedures for a baby born alive from a botched abortion. That is an act that passed the US Senate 98 to 0 (Sen. Obama was not in the Senate yet) and an act that Obama opposed four times as senator of Illinois. His voting record earned him the title of the most liberal senator in the US Senate in 2007.

There is a reason Planned Parenthood gives him a 100 % rating.
There is a reason the homosexual community supports him.
There is a reason he said he would nominate liberal judges to the Supreme Court.
There is a reason he voted against the infanticide bill.
There is a reason he voted No on the constitutional ban of same-sex marriage.
There is a reason he voted No on banning partial birth abortion.
There is a reason he voted No on confirming Justices Roberts and Alito. These two judges are conservatives and they have since overturned partial birth abortion. The same practice Obama wants to continue.

2. Senator Barrack Hussein Obama has deep Islamic roots and we are at war with millions of Muslims. He was raised by two, foreign Muslim fathers, attended public Muslim schools in Indonesia, had two Pakistani Muslim roommates in college and spent three weeks in Pakistan after college, traveling, it seems, on an Indonesian passport since he had been adopted by his Indonesian, Muslim step-father, Lolo Soetoro, who renamed him Barry Soetoro. His religion was listed as Muslim on his Catholic school records in Indonesia. He later attended Muslim public schools there where the Quran is normally taught. He did not become a Christian until he was in his 20’s. His Muslim roots go very deep.

Radical Islam—a group that may comprise about 50 million people of the 1.2 billion Muslims worldwide-- has again declared open war on all Christian and Jewish people of the world. This is just the return of the real Islam that was Christianity’s greatest military foe for the first 1000 years of Islam until 1663. Radical Islam is the real Islam of the Quran and of Mohammed, its warlord prophet. Europe has all but fallen to the wiles of Islam. Sharia law is now part of the legal system in Great Britain! America is next on the Muslim list of nations to invade and colonize. Islam’s stated goal in the Quran is to make all Christians and Jews submit to them politically. This verse (surah) from the Quran is only one of many verses calling for violence against non-Muslims: “Fight those who do not believe in Allah … until they pay the Jizya with willing submission and feel themselves subdued (Surah 9:29). Although no one can judge a man’s heart, it is safe to say that Senator Barak Hussein Obama must have deep Muslim sympathies and he certainly does have many Muslim relatives in Kenya and Indonesia. It is foolish to elect such a person as Commander in Chief of our military and as the primary leader of our nation in the face of these renewed Islamic attacks and the Islamization of the Western world.

This may be partially why Senator Barak Hussein Obama has the public support of so many Islamic terrorists groups and governments like Hamas and Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, who gave a public speech in June praising Obama as a Muslim. Nation of Islam ruler, Louis Farrakhan, has recently decreed that Barak Hussein Obama speaks for the Messiah! See this clip. Why are Muslims so enamored with him? What will Obama do to the nation of Israel with such strong Muslim roots? Islam hates Israel. I am deeply concerned about that. America’s support of Israel is vital to Israeli security against increasing Islamic aggression.

3. His Racial Viewpoints and Moral Judgment. Obama tells us he has good judgment but he sat under Jeremiah Wright racists anti-white teachings for 20 years. Obama said Jeremiah Wright led him to the Lord and discipled him. To disciple means to reproduce yourself in others. Jeremiah Wright is probably the most racist Black pastor I have ever heard. Rev. Wright is so full of hate toward all whites that his speech at the National Press Club was incredibly racist even though he knew it would hurt Obama’s candidacy. Wright also gave the leader of the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan, an award in December 2007. “Farrakhan has repeatedly made hate-filled statements targeting Jews, whites, America, and homosexuals. He has called whites “blue-eyed devils” and the “anti-Christ.” He has described Jews as “bloodsuckers” who control the government, the media, and some black organizations.” [3][3] Farrakhan considers himself a Muslim, by the way. His views are typical Muslim views.

Senator Barak Hussein Obama is a disciple of this man! Even as a US Senator, he continued to attend this church and called this man his pastor! Is that the kind of moral judgment and racial values you want in a president? I hope not.

The son of the Palestinian jihadist group Hamas has just announced that he became a Christian about 4 years ago after reading a Bible a missionary gave him in Jerusalem. Upon reading it, he fell in love with Jesus and realized that Muslims do not have a clue to God's real identity. Deliver Us From Evil by Amy Berg: I watched this award-winning documentary on Netflicks.com where you can download and watch movies instantly. You can also purchase it online. This is not an easy film to watch but one that Catholics, in particular, should watch. This is about a emotionally sick priest who sexually abuses many children and some adults. The priest confesses his crimes on camera many times. The response of the victims is truly gut-wrenching. Bad as that is, the real horror story is the way his bishops conspired to cleverly move him to other unsuspecting parishes where he could stay on the job as a priest. (There is a great lack of priests in the Catholic Church, you know.)

This is an abuse of spiritual authority of the highest rank! I am personally convinced that there is a conspiracy of secrecy among some Catholic bishops about the tens of thousands of children who have been sexually victimized by pedophile or gay priests. A gay priest has even said as much. This is a global phenomena in the Catholic Church but this film deals mainly with America. I love the Catholic Church. I found God there as a young Catholic boy. I later became an altarboy and Catholic seminarian for two years. The nuns and priests I knew nurtured me as a child in my relationship with Jesus very well. But perhaps up to 100,000 Catholic children in America could not say that, because they have allegedly been sexually abused by a priest in the last 50 years or so. This deep-seated evil in the priesthood continues despite the many court cases that have revolved around in the last few years. On August 11, 2008 a priest was arrested for running naked around town. Something is deeply broken in the Roman Catholic Church and some bishops should be in jail for allowing it. I commend this film to the men and women in the Catholic Church who love the Catholic Church--- but who love God and truth even more.

In Praise of Women: The main thing to know about women is that they are different from men. Thank God! What would this world be like if it were all men--assuming we could reproduce ourselves without women. :> Besides God, our very existence depends on women. No one nurtures like a woman. What would men be like if they were all raised just by men? I don't even like to even think about it. I have rarely seen a man who can give of himself as unselfishly to another as most women can to their children and husbands. Utter, unselfish, all-giving, sacrificial love--that's what I see in most women. I am 61 and I still am still amazed by that level of love in the young mothers I see scrambling to corral and take care of two, three or more little tykes at the park. Where so women get that kind of love? Not from men. Only God has that kind of love in His all-gender personality. How glad I am that God did not stop with Adam but went on to create a new, improved human we call women. The next time you read about someone or some group hurting women, I hope you will pray for those women. Men have been hurting women for thousands of years. Some religions actually make it a duty to hurt women. They deserve better from men, don't you agree? As the song says, "Thank heaven for little girls..."

Partners 316: Apology for Slavery, Jason Upton, Ramadan Prayer for Muslims, $60 Roundtrip to NYC

House formally apologizes for slavery and Jim Crow: For the first time since the Civil War, the US House of Representatives has officially apologized to Black Americans whose African and Caribbean ancestors were brutalized by slavery for over 250 years--and decades more of discriminatory "Jim Crow" laws. It makes me sad and relieved at the same time. It is so shameful that it took 143 years ( since 1865) to admit the obvious: slavery was very wrong---especially for a nation founded on the Bible and by immigrants who fled persecution in Europe. It is good that our federal government has finally admitted the truth. God will be more merciful to America because of it. Now, if Christian denominations and local churches would all do likewise in some appropriate way. It is likely that most churches have never dealt America's sins in slavery in any way. Why doesn't the Church lead in reconciliation in our nation? This would be a great way to love our neighbor as ourselves. The sins of slavery and discriminatory laws made by our white ancestors do not just go away before God. They have to be repented for in order for God to forgive. Churches in America need to admit "But they, our fathers, acted arrogantly; They became stubborn and would not listen to Your commandments (Neh 9:16 ). In order to lessen the increasing judgment of God on America now, churches would be wise to emulate the Jews who "assembled with fasting, in sackcloth and with dirt upon them...and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers ( Neh 9:1-2). The Call Congo Results So Far:

Many people all over the world wrote in to say they would be praying for the Congo on June 19. Here is one report about the impact of that prayer from the large reconciliation conference that was held in Congo (DROC) June 19-21:

"I have just viewed your post and as one of the European delegates involved and having just returned from the Reconciliation conference today, I would like to thank you and all those whose prayers made this such a success.

The sins of Europe, stemming from the Berlin Conference of 1884/85 and leading to the colonisation of Africa with all of the atrocities that Europe perpetrated against Africa in the process and in particular DR Congo has been repented of and forgiveness received.

This completed a nine year journey for the Europe Africa Reconciliation Process and we believe there has been significant breakthrough. It is time to move into transformation.

The State and Church presence at this conference was significant. The President of DR Congo, via his Head of State whom he had sent to represent him, welcomed this reconciliation process and went on to consecrate the country to God, stating it is only through Jesus that the Nation can be healed.

It was indeed an historical time and one which, as the healing of the wounds of the past start to flow, will release blessing between both continents.

Lets give glory and thanks to our God for all He has done, in the name of Jesus.

Dismal Swamp Fire Prayer Call: I woke up again this morning sensing that God wants to glorify Himself by putting out the Dismal Swamp fire that is such a health hazard to our region. God would do this if the churches of Tidewater prayed for this. According to one fire-fighting official, "This fire is a historic fire, so we're kind of in unchartered waters," he said.
Helmerick said that the last time there was a fire of this magnitude was in the 1920s, when a fire in the Dismal Swamp burned for about three years." Others predict it will be August or September before enough rain falls to put it out. To paraphrase Winston Churchhill, this is something up which we should not put! Prayer could put it out sooner.

Partners 314: Europe To Apologize to Congo on June 19-21: The Call Congo: June 19, 2008

The Call Congo (DROC): God is calling One million Christians worldwide to pray for Congo (DROC) on One Day for One King to reign there: King Jesus!

June 19, 2008 is the day one million will pray!

This had been scheduled for June 30, but after learning that there will be a historic reconciliation meeting in Kinshasa, the capital of Congo, on June 19-21, the date had to be moved up to June 19th. God is obviously up to something wonderful for the Congo!

An African friend in Belgium told me of this event after my last email about The Call Congo:

"I do not know if you are aware of it but there will be a major reconciliation conference taking place in Kinshasa 19^th to 21^st June where the European nations will be apologizing to Africa (but in particular the DR Congo). This is all part of a process which started in 1999 and in 2005 saw more than 500 people present in Berlin – going back to the roots of the carving up of Africa – being the Treaty of Berlin 1884/85. Since then, the European Christian leaders present that day have led delegations to Harare in 2006, Libreville, Gabon in 2007 and now onto Kinshasa for June 2008!

We need to join the Church of Congo in prayer for national healing during that conference! Tens of thousands have died violent deaths in the past few decades--Congolese killing Congolese. Congo is bleeding to death--physically and spiritually.

Please join many Christians in about eight nations who have already written saying they will pray. Please ask others to pray.

The prayers of 1,000,000 righteous persons can change nations and save thousands for eternity. Money, governments or armies cannot, but God can--if we pray. He waits on our prayers to act even thought he wants to help Congo much more than we do.

God has set the stage for some major spiritual healing in Congo on June 19-21. Let's join Him in His work to heal that nation.!

Partners: One Day, One Nation, One King: The Call Congo June 30, 2008

Dear Partner Readers,

The Lord has given me a clear burden to call One Million to Pray One Day for One Nation ( DROC Congo) for One King to reign there. One day of intense prayer by one million could do much damage to the ancient spiritual strongholds that keep this dear country in such misery.

I know this is God's project, not mine. An African intercessor in Nigeria confirmed this burden as I shared it with him. Please pass the word on this as the Lord allows. I hope to see other nations so targeted by such massive, one-day calls to prayer.

Please pray about participating. This is something do-able we can do to alleviate the continuing suffering in Africa, especially in DROC Congo! Only God can heal the Congo--and He wants to but he waits on our prayers to do so. That's the mystery of prayer, isn't it? He wants things done more than we do but waits until we pray to do them.

The blog to explain the call set for June 30, 2008. Please pray that many churches and individuals will join us on that day. Fasting helps. Please fast that day if you can. It is gasoline on the fire of prayer.

3 Things The Devil Most Fears:

I believe it is a true word for the entire Church worldwide. We are about to enter tougher times that God is causing to provoke His Church to greater holiness and fruitfulness--like the John 15 pruning teaching of Jesus describes. Why isn't there a Christian group doing this how can give preferential treatment to persecuted Christians in nations where the society tries to keep them from making a living. Muslims nations often force coverts to Christianity to lose their jobs and live in poverty. A micro-loan could help a starving Christian have his own business.

Anglican Church Endorses Sharia Law in England! You have to read this article by Charles Colson to believe it: the Archbishop of Canterbury in Great Britain has publicly said that the British government ought to be allowing Muslims to beat their wives for disobedience and allow other barbaric practices under sharia law within Muslim communities in England. This would be suitable "accommodation" to Muslims in Britain. I believe Prime Minister Chamberlain made a similar accommodation in 1939 to Hitler. The results will not be too different, it seems, in Britain. May God help the Anglican Church to awaken and pray and work for the salvation of those Muslims instead of unleashing their cruel practices upon British citizens who happen to be Muslim. Pray for this Man: Mohammed Hegazy, his wife, Zainab, and their unborn child are now in hiding in Egypt - their only crime - converting to Christianity. Hegazy had to file a landmark lawsuit against the Egyptian government after his request to change his official religious affiliation from Muslim to Christian was denied. After Mohammed’s original lawyer dropped the case due to threats against his life, the Hegazy family went into hiding after enduring rejection from their families and fielding anonymous death threats via phone.
