Partners 316: Apology for Slavery, Jason Upton, Ramadan Prayer for Muslims, $60 Roundtrip to NYC

House formally apologizes for slavery and Jim Crow: For the first time since the Civil War, the US House of Representatives has officially apologized to Black Americans whose African and Caribbean ancestors were brutalized by slavery for over 250 years--and decades more of discriminatory "Jim Crow" laws. It makes me sad and relieved at the same time. It is so shameful that it took 143 years ( since 1865) to admit the obvious: slavery was very wrong---especially for a nation founded on the Bible and by immigrants who fled persecution in Europe. It is good that our federal government has finally admitted the truth. God will be more merciful to America because of it. Now, if Christian denominations and local churches would all do likewise in some appropriate way. It is likely that most churches have never dealt America's sins in slavery in any way. Why doesn't the Church lead in reconciliation in our nation? This would be a great way to love our neighbor as ourselves. The sins of slavery and discriminatory laws made by our white ancestors do not just go away before God. They have to be repented for in order for God to forgive. Churches in America need to admit "But they, our fathers, acted arrogantly; They became stubborn and would not listen to Your commandments (Neh 9:16 ). In order to lessen the increasing judgment of God on America now, churches would be wise to emulate the Jews who "assembled with fasting, in sackcloth and with dirt upon them...and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers ( Neh 9:1-2). Jason Upton
(www.jasonupton.net) and Key of David Band will be ministering in music on Sunday August 10th at the 10:00am service at New Life Family Center, 400 East Elizabeth St.. Elizabeth City, NC 27909
Phone: (252)333-1202. The first time I heard Jason sing years ago---when he and his wife, Rachel, were Divinity students at Regent University--I said to myself, "There's a man who will go around the world leading revival through song." He has. Try to hear him sometime if you can. He's like Keith Green: a prophet in song.

Help For Mothers who Miscarry:a friend recently miscarried her baby. I found some links that may help ladies and men work through through this sad event.

This is a very good overview article: http://www.marriagemissions.com/dealing-with-miscarriage-in-your-marriage/

This is a good site: http://www.babygrief.com/ Very evangelical.

This one is from Britain and it has a place to "send a message to your baby." Not biblically correct, but a therapeutic thing to do.

This one is very Catholic but a good example of how one lady who miscarried with 4 children deals with her grief though her faith and writing.
