Partners 327: Why Princeton in 1776, Teach English to PhD sudents in China, Make maps to track church visitors, Please Pray for my Daughter

Why Trenton/Princeton? In 10 days from Dec 26, 1976 to January 3, 1777, American forces won their first significant victories against the British, who already thought they had won the war. These two battles helped turn the war to the Americans. Why at those two locations? Could it be that the Spirit of God has so cleansed that region from sin and demonic strongholds that the purposes of God were more easily achieved against the British? Does the spiritual condition of a region have an influence on how that region fares in emergencies?

It happens that in those two towns, significant Christian revivals had occurred in the preceding decades under a series of revivalists: Rev. Theodorus Jacobus Frelinghuysen (1691-1747) ( Revivalist George Whitfield called him the beginning of the 1st Great Awakening in America), George Whitfield, served in New Brunswick, not far from Princton Rev. William Tennent (1673-1745), who who started the "Log College" to train ministers for the Gospel. This later became Princeton University & Seminary. In 1757, the Princeton Revival occurred at the College of NJ ( later called Rutgers) in Princeton, NJ. Wars are won mainly because of spiritual reasons. That's what the Bible shows over hundreds of pages in the OT and in the Book of Revelations. Why does evil linger and prosper in certain places and good prospers in other places? It can often be linked to the spiritual history of that area. This is what spiritual mapping is all about. I recommend this concept as a topic for study as Christians struggle with how to pull our country back from deepening problems on every front.

Muslim Terrorists Hate America for Not Living As Christians: They see America as defiling the world with immorality and secularism. They are often right. "Christian" America and "Christian" Europe is polluting the world with movies and music filled with ungodly values and images ( for the love of money)--practices that the American Church largely ignores. Darwinian Evolution: Enemy of the Bible, Friend of Atheism: The Theory of Evolution is the most powerful scientific argument against belief in God. Every atheistic, communist regime in the world has loved it. Hitler loved it. It is taught as indisputable fact in our public high schools, public colleges and other government- run educational facilities. Educators who dare to disagree are ostracized or disciplined by many public institutions. Scientists are not always right, as you might guess. One Noble Prize winning scientist, James Watson, co-discoverer of the double helix of DNA in 1962--says "A goodly number of scientists are not only narrow-minded and dull but also just stupid." Some honest scientists--even evolutionists-- will admit that Darwinian evolution as a theory as significant problems in current science. Science knows too much now to blindly accept evolution as the only way to explain the origin of life in all its complexities. The fossil record is supposed to be one of the major proofs of the Theory of Darwinian Evolution. However, well-known evolutionist Dr. Stephen Jay Gould now says, " The extreme rarity of transitional forms in the fossil record persists as a trade secret of paleontology." In addition, our current knowledge of cellular mechanics is so astounding that another evolutionist, the other co-winner of the same Nobel Prize for biology in 1962, Dr. Francis Crick, has abandoned pure evolutionary theory and now guesses that life on earth must have begun when aliens deliberating planted DNA material on earth ages ago. The Church needs to take this theory on and show that there is very credible science that challenges the Darwinian theory of evolution. Left unchallenged, this dubious theory will lead many other people to embrace atheism, as it in fact did to the esteemed Dr. Crick who was raised by Christian parents. I dare you to watch two videos twice ( there's a lot to digest) and not be gravely concerned about how our children and youth are being taught a philosophy and a worldview that is scientifically suspect and theologically wrong. Watch "Expelled" by Ben Stein and Segment 5 of the Truth Project on evolution. Christian schools could be debating public schools on this. Every church should educate its parents and children in the scientific truth about intelligent design. Every fact of science about the origin and diversity of life fits a creationist model. Most scientists today simply do not want to deal with a spiritual or unknown cause for such things. 500 years ago, it was the opposite. The world's greatest scientists believed in God for hundreds of years.

If evolution is succeeding in deceiving our nation's and our church's children not to believe in the scriptures and in God, it is our fault--the fault of the Church. Only our prayers and the bold proclamation of the truth, scientific and biblical, can stop this insidious worldview from corrupting our nation even more.

Proposition 8 in California May Be Reversed on March 5. : Prop 8 defined marriage exclusively between a man and a woman. But, the gay community immediately sued California stating that Prop 8 is unconstitutional.
The Supreme Court of the state of California will hear oral arguments and decide whether to overthrow Prop 8 as being unconstitutional or to establish Prop 8 as law in California. It will take place on March 5, 2009. The justices to hear the case are: Chief Justice Ronald George, and Associate Justices Carlos Moreno, Joyce Kennard, Kathryn Mickle Werdegar, Ming Chin, Marvin Baxter and Carol Corrigan. At this writing we believe the hearing will take place at the courthouse at 350 McAllister St., San Francisco, CA 94102-4797. To confirm this, call the court's clerk at 415-865-7000. Given the location (San Francisco) we can assume that a large number of the homosexual community will be present. Some Christians will want to join together to pray outside the courthouse.

Prophetic Words for 2009: No Need to Whine in 09: New Wine in 09: Just as the NT prophet Agabus predicted a famine and Paul's arrest in the Book of Acts, God still seems to predict things through prophetically gifted people in order to guide and strengthen us in what is to come. False prophets do exist and the Bible says to test the spirits and prophesies--and not to despise prophesies (1 Cor 5:20). I encourage you to do that with these words. Partners 324: Great Healing in America, Pray for President, Missionary Training, Discipleship Training, Church Wants to Rent Space

Great Healing in America: Every American should rejoice that America has its first African-American President! That alone has brought great healing to the African-American community who have suffered terrible discrimination for almost 400 years in America. Many good people of all hues have worked for decades to see this kind of hope and healing brought to our dear African-American neighbors. President Obama is a very gifted man with strong vision to build a better America. Like any others, I can see seeds of greatness in President Obama as a leader.

But this is a critical time for all churches to pray and work together to ensure that his presidency is guided by scriptural truth so that God can once again bless and protect America--as only God can. If it is true that God is judging America for its sins--and I am convinced He is-- then America's future safety and prosperity depends more on our standing before God than on any political or economic plans man has. May America bless God and follow His ways. He alone can heal our land ( 2Chron 7:13-14).

Partners 323: Historic Norfolk Events Jan 19th, FireProof DVD, Marriage Seminar, Learn Chinese, Tech Tips

Historic Reconciliation March and Concert Jan 19, 2009 in Norfolk: The Norfolk City government is holding a large 50th Anniversary commemoration of the closing of all of Virginia's public schools to resist court-ordered integration in 1959. The commemoration celebrates the progress made since 1959 in racial relationships in Norfolk.

This commemoration really is something wonderful and powerful for our region! We have come a long way from there in 50 years. What a fitting event to have just before President -Elect Obama is sworn in the next day. There is Unity March planned at 10 AM and a concert with speeches at Chrysler hall at 11 AM. Dr. Nancy Klein from Kempsville Presbyterian Church/ODU will lead the choir. Please pray for this event and attend if you can. Pray for Dr. Klein--a very godly woman who hears from God well and who may be able to say something at that concert that could be a word from the Lord to bring greater healing to this tragic event being commemorated. New Discipleship Design to Train Christian Leaders: Feb 7, 2009, 9-4 at Church of the Messiah in Chesapeake, VA. As a seminary grad ( Fuller '77) and pastor for 20 years, I can tell you that this seminar gives you a much better model for training leaders, whether they be your children, your deacons, elders or future pastors. I have taken the full three day course and it really made sense. The author, Malcolm Webber, who is himself a pastor and trainer of pastors internationally, has described the process of biblical discipleship in conceptual and practical ways better than anyone I know of.

New Way to Honor Fallen Vets: This was birthed by a Hampton Roads family who lost a young soldier in Iraq. I knew that soldier, Tony, and his wife and small children. He was killed by a sniper he never saw. A bill is before Congress to allow a small flag to be flown below the American flag on certain days ( Veterans' Day, etc) to honor our fallen vets. How to Respond to the 2008 Presidential Election

Half the nation may be feeling very discouraged and the other half ecstatic. Here's how Christians can respond:

1. Congratulate African-Americans on this historic election of the first African-American President of the United States! Millions of their forebears have suffered incalculable and sinful wrongs at the hands of the white majority population for centuries--during and after slavery. May this election bring a much deeper healing to those ancient wounds. Rejoice with those who rejoice! I do!

2. For those who voted for the other side, let me share with you what I think God told me the day after the election--after I got over my own grief at the results: " He has only been elected. He has not changed one law yet. There is still time for God's people to pray that he will do only good for American and not do any harm." Most presidents have done some of both--despite what we thought they would do in office.

I say that the future of America is not in any President's hands. It is in God's hands and a holy, repentant, unified Church can move the hand of God according to His will. God wants us to move His hand to bless, heal, protect and provide for America, but he had limited Himself, as the Scriptures teach, to do some things only if His people pray well and live well before Him. "If my people...then I will heal their land. ( II Chron 7:13-14). Please read verse 13. It says that when God judges a nation with calamities ( 911, Katrina, floods, Economic meltdown), He can be petitioned to relent and restore by a holy, repentant, praying people. So, pray for our new President and His family. Pray every blessing and protection on them you can. His success is our success as a nation. Our destinies are intertwined (Jer 29:7). It is our calling from 1 Peter 2.9 and I Tim 2:1-2. A good list of prayers is found here.

Also, pray specifically that he does not do three things: 1) Cause more unborn children to die by abortion as he has promised he would by eradicating laws to protect the unborn. Greater shedding of innocent blood will only increase the judgement of God on America and really ruin our economy. 2) Accommodate the empire ambitions of Muslims who have already all but taken over Europe. His Muslim roots may make him too sympathetic to America's greatest political and religious enemy now. 3) That he would not implement any of the racist teachings he absorbed for 20 years from his pastor.

"The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD;
He turns it wherever He wishes (Pro 21:1).

Partners 318: Three Critical Reasons Not to Elect Barak Hussein Obama as President of the United States

It is easy to understand why, in the words of that famous Christmas song, “the hopes and fears of all the years are met in…” Senator Obama for many people, especially for African-Americans. Here is a handsome, well-educated, intelligent and very well-spoken African-American who could be our next President. I, too, look forward to the day when a Black man or a Black woman sits in the Oval Office as President. I wish Colin Powell or Condi Rice would run for President. When American elects a person of color as President, a deeper racial healing could happen in America among all races. If the candidates were about the same on values and policies, I would vote for the person of color. But I believe that Senator Barak Hussein Obama is not the one who should be that first African-American President of the United States. I have problems with both candidates, but the differences I have with Senator McCain pale in comparison with the ones I have with Senator Obama.

First, a disclaimer: this email is not motivated by any racial prejudice. I totally agree with what Dr. Martin Luther King stated that no man should be judged on the basis of the color of his skin. Many of you know that I have spent years working publicly for racial reconciliation with pastors. I joyfully joined an all-Black church in the 90’s for two years and I loved it. One chapter of my book, Healing America’s DNA is all about the sins and moral crimes of the white community against Black slaves and Black people even into the 20^th century in Hampton Roads. Few people know that I had a Black grandfather. I knew my paternal grandmother’s second husband, Charlie, as a kind and godly fully African-American man. For these reasons and more, I agonized over writing this message for weeks because I know that some of my friends will not agree with what I say and some might be very offended. I regret that, but I must share what I feel to be truths that could literally mean life or death for many future Americans.

The main reason I cannot vote for Senator Obama is his clear, consistent and totally unbiblical positions on the value of unborn children. Abortion is the one area where Senator Obama has clearly shown what he stands for as a leader. “Barrack Obama is the most extreme pro-abortion candidate ever to seek the office of President of the United States. He is the most extreme pro-abortion member of the United States Senate. Indeed, he is the most extreme pro-abortion legislator ever to serve in either house of the United States Congress.” [1] See this link for details in an article written by Robert P. “What would President Obama do? Obama says, “The first thing I’d do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act” (FOCA). His top agenda would be to strike down every pro-life law that has been instated by state legislatures and the Congress, including parental consent laws, partial birth abortion, health standards for abortion clinics and the Born Alive Infant Act, which provided for life-saving medical procedures for a baby born alive from a botched abortion. That is an act that passed the US Senate 98 to 0 (Sen. Obama was not in the Senate yet) and an act that Obama opposed four times as senator of Illinois. His voting record earned him the title of the most liberal senator in the US Senate in 2007.

There is a reason Planned Parenthood gives him a 100 % rating.
There is a reason the homosexual community supports him.
There is a reason he said he would nominate liberal judges to the Supreme Court.
There is a reason he voted against the infanticide bill.
There is a reason he voted No on the constitutional ban of same-sex marriage.
There is a reason he voted No on banning partial birth abortion.
There is a reason he voted No on confirming Justices Roberts and Alito. These two judges are conservatives and they have since overturned partial birth abortion. The same practice Obama wants to continue.

2. Senator Barrack Hussein Obama has deep Islamic roots and we are at war with millions of Muslims. He was raised by two, foreign Muslim fathers, attended public Muslim schools in Indonesia, had two Pakistani Muslim roommates in college and spent three weeks in Pakistan after college, traveling, it seems, on an Indonesian passport since he had been adopted by his Indonesian, Muslim step-father, Lolo Soetoro, who renamed him Barry Soetoro. His religion was listed as Muslim on his Catholic school records in Indonesia. He later attended Muslim public schools there where the Quran is normally taught. He did not become a Christian until he was in his 20’s. His Muslim roots go very deep.

Radical Islam—a group that may comprise about 50 million people of the 1.2 billion Muslims worldwide-- has again declared open war on all Christian and Jewish people of the world. This is just the return of the real Islam that was Christianity’s greatest military foe for the first 1000 years of Islam until 1663. Radical Islam is the real Islam of the Quran and of Mohammed, its warlord prophet. Europe has all but fallen to the wiles of Islam. Sharia law is now part of the legal system in Great Britain! America is next on the Muslim list of nations to invade and colonize. Islam’s stated goal in the Quran is to make all Christians and Jews submit to them politically. This verse (surah) from the Quran is only one of many verses calling for violence against non-Muslims: “Fight those who do not believe in Allah … until they pay the Jizya with willing submission and feel themselves subdued (Surah 9:29). Although no one can judge a man’s heart, it is safe to say that Senator Barak Hussein Obama must have deep Muslim sympathies and he certainly does have many Muslim relatives in Kenya and Indonesia. It is foolish to elect such a person as Commander in Chief of our military and as the primary leader of our nation in the face of these renewed Islamic attacks and the Islamization of the Western world.

This may be partially why Senator Barak Hussein Obama has the public support of so many Islamic terrorists groups and governments like Hamas and Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, who gave a public speech in June praising Obama as a Muslim. Nation of Islam ruler, Louis Farrakhan, has recently decreed that Barak Hussein Obama speaks for the Messiah! See this clip. Why are Muslims so enamored with him? What will Obama do to the nation of Israel with such strong Muslim roots? Islam hates Israel. I am deeply concerned about that. America’s support of Israel is vital to Israeli security against increasing Islamic aggression.

3. His Racial Viewpoints and Moral Judgment. Obama tells us he has good judgment but he sat under Jeremiah Wright racists anti-white teachings for 20 years. Obama said Jeremiah Wright led him to the Lord and discipled him. To disciple means to reproduce yourself in others. Jeremiah Wright is probably the most racist Black pastor I have ever heard. Rev. Wright is so full of hate toward all whites that his speech at the National Press Club was incredibly racist even though he knew it would hurt Obama’s candidacy. Wright also gave the leader of the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan, an award in December 2007. “Farrakhan has repeatedly made hate-filled statements targeting Jews, whites, America, and homosexuals. He has called whites “blue-eyed devils” and the “anti-Christ.” He has described Jews as “bloodsuckers” who control the government, the media, and some black organizations.” [3][3] Farrakhan considers himself a Muslim, by the way. His views are typical Muslim views.

Senator Barak Hussein Obama is a disciple of this man! Even as a US Senator, he continued to attend this church and called this man his pastor! Is that the kind of moral judgment and racial values you want in a president? I hope not.

In conclusion, I urgently urge you to not vote for Barak Hussein Obama! America needs a person of color as President soon, but Barak Hussein Obama should not be that person!
